CITY OF DELMAR SPECIAL
CITY COUNCIL MEETING
April 18, 2007
The Delmar City Council met in special session on April 18, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the Delmar Council Chambers. Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order with the following members present at roll call: Jebsen, Trenkamp, Goodall, Eberhart, Simmons.
Mayor Johnson called for a motion to approve the consent agenda. M/S Goodall, Trenkamp to approve the consent agenda. Roll call vote: All ayes
Mayor Johnson called for a motion to approve the liquor permit for Bam Bam’s Barn. M/S Goodall, Simmons to approve the liquor permit for Bam Bam’s Barn. Roll call vote: All ayes.
Mayor Johnson asked for council person Goodall to advise the council of tiling that needs to be done near the lagoons with an approximate cost of $1000.00. Mayor Johnson called for a motion to approve the tiling to be done. M/S Trenkamp, Eberhart to approve the tiling. Roll call vote: All ayes.
Goodall advised council that upon close inspection of the new pole installed by Alliant near city lagoons they broke a tile line. Clerk was instructed to contact Alliant regarding this issue and asked for inspection by their personnel to check on the issue and get back to the city.
Mayor Johnson discussed the issues of finding a new certified operator for the water and waste water due to the resignation of Darrell Warren certified operator. Tom Witt and Rob Witt have looked at our system and will submit a bid at the next council meeting.
City clerk advised the city council of a tree on Ridge Avenue that needs to be removed. Council person Goodall also advised the council of a tree on Hurst Street that he felt needed to be removed as well. Clerk was instructed to get bids and submit them to the council at the next meeting.
Clerk advised the council of a complaint of animals at large to the council. Council advised the clerk to send a copy of ordinance of animals at large and listing of fines along with warning letter to the resident.
Goodall went into discussion of the tennis courts at the school and asked the council if the city had any problems with turning the tennis courts over to the school so they may turn the tennis courts into basketball courts. Mayor Johnson called for a motion to approve the request. Jebsen, Trenkamp to approve the school turning the tennis courts into basketball courts. Roll call vote: All ayes.
Maintenance person Ruchotzke asked the council to consider cutting back his hours as soon as new operators for the sewer and water are hired similar to the hours he was originally hired for. Council will review as soon as a new operator(s) is found.
Ruchotzke updated the council on the work being done on the city hall building. Most of the work to the sides and back are done, and in working on the front of the building they found additional work that will need to be done to do the job properly so the cost may increase slightly from the original bid. Mayor Johnson asked for a motion to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.
