Sept. 20, 2006

The Delmar City Council met in special session on September 20, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Delmar Council Chambers. Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order with the following members present at roll call: Simmons, Jebsen, Eberhart, Goodall, Trenkamp.

M/S Goodall, Jebsen to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: All ayes.

Clerk opened the discussion with the review of the two bills presented against the city. First bill was from Anstoetter Construction for sewer main work, and additional work done for the city during the water construction project. M/S Goodall, Jebsen to approve payment of the bill presented by Anstoetter Construction in the amount of $10,271.91. Roll call vote: All ayes.

The clerk presented the bill from Kenneth Lower for work done along his property and Hwy 136. Council tabled payment of this bill that was presented and asked the clerk to send a letter of request for Mr. Lowery to attend the meeting on October 4, 2006 to discuss his bill that he presented to the city.

M/S Goodall, Simmons to approve the building permit for Ron & Patty Shanahan for an addition to their home. Roll call vote: All ayes.

M/S Simmons, Trenkamp to approve the building permit for Birgil Chase for a storage shed. Roll call vote: All ayes.

Council reviewed the bid for a new copier for the city hall presented by the city clerk, due to the contract renewal date approaching on November 1, 2006. The copier lease will decrease the city’s cost by $6.25 per month compared to the renewal of the lease for the present copier. M/S Jebsen, Trenkamp to approve the new copier lease agreement for city hall. Roll call vote: All ayes.

Discussion on residential request for closing an alley in Delmar has been tabled due to the alley being used as an easement for utilities and will remain open at this time.

M/S Goodall, Trenkamp to approve the signing of the settlement agreement with Casey’s for an amount of $44,500 concerning the contamination issues. Roll call vote: All ayes

Trick or Treating times have been set for 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the date will be set as soon as the PTO party information has been received.

Clerk asked for council approval to attend a software update class and IMFOA in Des Moines on October 18, 19 & 20 for continuing education classes. Clerk advised the council that all costs will be share equally between Delmar and the City of Welton.
